Are you a good steward of your miracle(s)? Is "I'm doing the best that
I can," good enough? Does "They have it better than I did when I was
a child," justify the atmosphere of the environment in which they now live?
Here's what I believe:
If we invest in our children to the fullest, providing love, safety, respect,
our quality time, attention, education, and shelter, they will walk well through
this world. *A child will become disrespectful when they have not been
shown, received or taught respect in the home. **Even love has to be shown,
and taught to a child that enters this world, it's not automatic. I'm a huge
advocate for "tone", "no shouting," and definitely no name calling and profanity."
This style of communication and discipline is what creates some of the world's
biggest bullies. ***Childhood doesn't just happens, it has to be formatted to
provide activities and exposures that will positively impact your child's growth
and development. As parents, sometimes we may not have the time(we tell
ourselves), but we must make the time. The rewards of that time with your
children will far out weigh anything else when years later they say to you, "do
you remember the time we"...? It is then, you will know that simple thing you
did for those few precious moments was more valuable than the most expensive
thing you ever bought them. Not only will you know that it had nothing to do with
money but everything to do with the quality time you invested in them...you'll wish you
had more of those "memorable moments." Talk to and with them...listen to what they
have to say. Emotions are a natural part of life...allow them to access them all and teach
them the benefits of mastering them. This world is already full of enough people who
weren't taught about emotions, talked to and with or listened to. Self-control should
abide in every home. We, adults, must learn, if we already haven't, the power of
respect and self-control for ourselves and our children. We cannot teach what we have
not learned...anything! I can say that I love, love, love children, even with three loves it's an
understatement! How can anyone not love a miracle!!
Read my book, I'm certain there is something in there to benefit every parent.
